The Martin SWCD Board of Supervisors meets on the second Thursday of every month at 9:00 am in the Martin SWCD office.
Individuals concerned about water quality and soil erosion in Martin County should consider filing by June 5 to run for the position of Supervisor of the Martin Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD).
This year, the SWCD has 3 Supervisor positions up for election. These include District 2 – City of Fairmont; District 4 – Townships of Jay, Manyaska, Rolling Green, Lake Fremont, and Lake Belt and cities within those Townships; and District 5 – Townships of Cedar, Galena, Waverly, Elm Creek, and Fox Lake and cities within those Townships. SWCD Supervisors serve four year terms.
SWCD candidates appear on the ballot for the general election which will take place November 6, 2018. Candidates are elected county wide, but must reside in one of the nomination districts up for election. Those interested in running for Supervisor should file at the County Auditor’s office from May 22 through June 5, 2018.

Larry Cowing – Member, Nomination District One
Linda Meschke – Member, Nomination District Two
Tyler Ask – Member, Nomination District Five
Supervisors meet monthly to discuss the business of the SWCD, including state grant allocations to landowners, district conservation priorities, coordination with other local units of government and state and federal agencies. Supervisors do not receive a salary, although they do receive compensation for attending meetings and are reimbursed for expenses.
